At Barkleys Dog Training Academy both Georgina and Abbie are accredited IMDT trainers and completely force free. We offer a variety of behaviour classes and workshops to help owners to continue to develop their bond with their dog and help correct any issues that you may be experiencing. All classes are taken by our qualified instructors inside our warm and dry arena, and we receive excellent feedback from their 'graduates'. Puppy Behaviour Classes
Puppy Classes for puppies under 1 year old. All the basics are covered in the 4 week course, including sit, stay, loose-lead walking and recall, with videos sent to you to help with your 'homework'. The course is £88 for the 4 weeks, and your puppy will attend a Graduation and receive a certificate, photo and welcome pack! Our classes are currently taking place within the warm and dry arena, so weather does not affect the classes. Call 01924 614953 or email: [email protected] for details. Scent Detection Workshop
This course will enable you to teach your dog the basics of scent work and indication in a real life setting (the lovely Dewsbury Rams Stadium) with your dog and, if you choose to, compete in fun trials within the region with other people from local dog training establishments who are part of the UK Sniffer Dogs Community. Suitable for all ages and breeds of dogs! When you book your place you will receive an email with full instructions to prepare for your course and venue details. The course is £120 for the 6 weeks. |

Excitable Dog Workshop
Do you have an over-excited dog? Do they pull on the lead? Do they jump up? Do they have their own over-exuberant way of welcoming your house guests? Would you like to learn the ways to improve all these issues and work with your dog? If the answer to these questions is a resounding 'YES!', we are running an intensive workshop for those dogs who love life and just need to turn it down a notch! This 60 minute class is extremely popular and costs £30, and incorporates loose-lead walking, jumping up, eye contact, general focus, and more! |
Total Recall Workshop Do you want an off lead dog? Would you like your dog to come back to you when asked? Or just want to work on general obedience around distractions. Our popular Total Recall workshop is back and better than ever! This new and improved workshop we will be teaching recall techniques in a group class at our Barkley&Co centre. Our Total Recall workshop is 60 minutes and costs £30 in total. |

Loose Lead Workshop
Loose Lead Walking Workshop will teach you the techniques to help make your dog walks a more enjoyable experience for both you and your dog. This workshop includes TWO 1 hour training sessions; the first will cover a range of techniques in a group class at our Barkley&Co centre, and the second will be a 1-2-1 session outside, where we will be putting the techniques learnt in the first session into practice in a real life situation. Our Loose Lead Walking workshop is £80 in total for the two sessions. |
1-2-1 Training Sessions
At Barkleys we have helped many owners and dogs overcome problem areas with on- to-one training sessions. These sessions start from £55 per hour. Before the training session would take place you will have an initial consultation to assess your individual situation and what areas we need to focus on. We have done a lot of work with dogs that haven't been socialised, have suffered with separation anxiety, over-excitable when out on walks, recall sessions and many more. If you are facing problems and it isn't something we have listed please get in contact with us to enquire if its something we can work on together.

Taster Agility Sessions
Do you think your dog has agility potential? Are you looking for a fun way for them to burn off some energy whilst learning a new skill? Why not come down and have a go at our super fun agility taster session! In this fun filled 60 minute session, you and your dog will be able to have a go at some basic agility with a range of equipment including jumps, tunnels, and more! Our agility taster sessions are £30, and must be booked and paid for in advance in order to guarantee your place. Foundation Agility Course
This 6-week course will lay a solid foundation to enable you and your dog to progress to the next stage of agility training, which is equipment proficiency. Within the Foundation Agility Course, you will learn through fun games to:- *Form a good working relationship with your dog *Build a training reward system *Teach the ‘Wait’ command *Train ‘Directional’ commands *Understand body language *Train handling manoeuvres *Proof of commands *Motivational commands & other beneficial advice This course will need to be completed by each dog to progress to the next stage of agility. This course is suitable for all breeds of dog aged 4 months and above. The course cost is £110 and will take place at Barkleys Dog Training Academy indoor arena at Thornes. |
